Narconon Supports Take Back Day

The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) have announced a national day where prescription drugs can be “Taken Back” no questions asked. Take-Back Day is on Saturday, September 25th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time.   Collections sites can be found by logging onto the DEA website.

Narconon East U.S., a non-profit drug rehabilitation and education organization, fully supports Take-Back day. Narconon has seen the ever increasing rise in prescription drug addiction since the FDA lowered the rules for pharmaceutical companies to advertise on TV and other media prescription drugs.  As profits of the pharmaceutical companies soared so has prescription drug addiction.

The ONDCP recognizes prescription addiction as the fastest growing drug problem in the U.S.  The easy availability of prescription drugs makes this possible. By recognizing Take-Back day, used prescription drugs can be properly disposed of without them leading to an addiction.

Narconon East U.S. has seen many cases where unused prescriptions fall into the hands of a teen or other family member than the one the prescription was originally intended for. The result of this can be the teen becoming addicted or giving or selling the prescription to others. Many of today’s prescription painkillers are extremely addictive.  The result can be setting a teen onto the road of addiction.

By promoting a Take-Back day addictive and otherwise harmful prescription drugs are taken out of circulation as they should be. Prescriptions are intended for the one the drug is prescribed for under a medical doctor’s care.  Although there are many case on record of individuals becoming addicted to a doctor’s prescription these same drugs falling into the hands of someone who they weren’t prescribed to can create an even greater problem in society.

As the DEA states, “You cannot predict the effect a drug can have on you”.  As Narconon explains, all drugs are poisons. The amount taken determines the effect.  Take enough of any drug and it will kill you. Drugs are regulated by prescription because of the high potential for abuse. The close monitoring by a medical doctor with a patient fully informed of the drug and all its possible side effects and communicating any possible side effects the patient notices to his physician is the best guarantee a person has of avoiding addiction.

Take-Back day is a way for Americans to lessen the potential of addiction to prescription drugs. Narconon fully supports this effort.  If you know of someone that has already become addicted Narconon offers drug rehabilitation services or if you would like information on drug education contact Narconon East U.S. at 877-237-3307.

Narconon Offers Addiction Help

Almost everyone has heard of warnings and precautions against driving drunk. Whole organizations have formed up over the years to try and educate drivers and eradicate drunk driving which too often results in injuries and death. However, until now there has been no mention of the prevalence and dangers of drugged driving.

According to a White House Office of National Drug Control Policy recent report, drugged driving is now a significant problem on the nation’s roads. This is just an indicator of the lifestyle changes in recent years of Americans and the increasing need for addiction help . On an average weekend night one in six drivers tested positive for licit and illicit drugs.  The concerns with all the drugs including the over-the-counter ones were their ability to impair the driver.

Marijuana and Cocaine were tops among the illicit drugs found. However, just as many drivers were found on prescription drugs as drivers on Cocaine. The White House clearly states that this data on drugged driving is a significant problem that requires attention.

Narconon , a non-profit drug education and rehabilitation organization, points out the simple truth about drugs. All drugs are poisons and the amount taken determines the effect.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse estimates the cost of alcohol abuse is over 185 billion annually. On average someone is killed by a drunk driver every 45 minutes.  To the victims family that cost is priceless.  Now add to that the ever increasing number of Americans on prescription and illicit drugs. We now have catastrophe in the making.

The facts are people on drugs are not alert. They do not always see the world around them. Drugs are necessary to engage in surgery or other life-saving activities. However, this doesn’t mean a person on drugs should be operating a motor vehicle.  Generally, one is made to rest and recuperate after surgery. However, the modern drug taker often takes drugs for other reasons. In fact, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency refers to the U.S. as "we are a pill taking society". A dismal look at the greatest nation in the world, as our President referred in a recent public address.

Since drug companies have been allowed by Congress to advertise on TV and in other media the nation’s prescriptions have skyrocketed. The result is a national population on drugs for one reason or another, less alert and more prone to drug addiction.

Whether someone is taking illegal drugs or has become prescription addicted, Narconon drug rehabilitation has been statistically proven to be successful in permanently handing addiction and Narconon graduates go on to lead successful productive drug-free lives. Narconon has been in the drug rehab business for over 40 years with proven results.

Handling Addiction the Narconon Way

Narconon drug rehab outlines how a drug addiction starts in the first place and points out steps to successful recovery.

With over 22 million people struggling with substance abuse you have to wonder why and how a person could get addicted to drugs in the first place. Is it genetic; a disease; a mental disorder; or does addiction encompass a much simpler concept?  This is something that has been debated throughout the ages and amongst doctors, psychiatrists and even within drug rehab programs.

There is evidence to support some of the above. According to a recent study by the National Institute on Drug Abuse addiction has been compared to chronic illnesses such as Diabetes, Hypertension and even Asthma. But herein lies the problem of recovery and the product of drug rehab which should be to get a person to stop using drugs permanently.

A much simpler concept of why substance abuse starts has proven to be more accurate – that addiction actually begins with some type of central problem in the individual’s life that they are unable to deal with.  This problem could encompass a variety of things; some may have struggled with some type of family abuse, while others may have experienced some type of loss in life. Things like a divorce, or a death would fall into this category.

According to Narconon , a long-term inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation program, until these components are fully handled the individual is unable to stop using drugs and, in some cases, even with drug rehab, will continue to relapse.

“In every patient we see, there is some type of problem or issue that has led them into the addiction in the first place,” says Erica Catton Director of Promotion for Narconon. “But the mechanics behind it is that by helping to bring these problems to the surface and giving the person skills to handle them, they then won’t have to go back to using drugs as a solution to a problem. They can be free from addiction.”

This technology is one main component of the Narconon program. Narconon also utilizes a unique therapy overcome the physical aspect of addiction using a sauna detoxification method to remove drug residues from the body and reduce physical drug cravings. The program has been helping addicts since 1964 and has a more than 70% success rate for permanent sobriety.

“With the different schools of thought out there regarding addiction, many think that it is hopeless,” explains Catton. “But the truth is that a person can stop using drugs permanently. Full recovery from substance abuse is possible not matter how severe the underlying issues can be.”

Narconon Drug Rehab Helped Sister Successfully Recover From Addiction

Filed under: Narconon, addiction help, drug rehab — Tags: , , — nneastus @ 2:31 am

When Peter Hollern* found out that his sister needed to go into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program he was confused about what was happening. For the years previous, he had observed something had been wrong and was starting to wonder if his sister had a drug problem.  Not really knowing a lot about addiction or drug abuse he wasn’t sure what to do.  As things continued to get worse, he came home one day to witness his parents speaking with his sister about her drug use and trying to convince her to go into the Narconon drug rehab program.

“I recall how upset she was that day when my parents were explaining to her that she had a problem with drugs and that they were sending her to get help,” says Peter. “She blatantly fought with them to go. This moment was very trying for my parents and I was not understanding of why she couldn’t see that.”

Because Peter’s parents used the “tough love” approach to get his sister into treatment, she was put on a plane and arrived at Narconon. Through the next few months Peter kept in contact with her and got some time away to see her, once she had graduated the Narconon drug rehab program.

Unsure of his sister’s stability and happiness after drug rehab, Peter was shocked to find that his sister had made a total change. “It was like meeting a completely renewed person,” says Peter. “She had a refreshed appearance and a set of values and ethics that we were ecstatic to see. I can’t really describe in words how amazing this contrast was.”

Today, several years later, Peter is a firm believer in the Narconon program. His sister is happily married and he is a new uncle. She just celebrated 8 years off drugs. “Narconon was definitely the answer for my sister,” he explains. “I believe in the Narconon program whole-heartedly.”

Narconon has been successfully treating drug and alcohol addiction since 1964 and has a more than 70% success rate for permanent recovery from drugs. If you or someone you love is in need of a drug rehab program contact Narconon today at 877-237-3307.
