The Garden State Film Festival is New Jersey’s premiere venue for previewing current independent films from all over the world. This year’s festival 130 films were entered in many categories. In the Public Service Announcement (PSA) category, Director/Producers Daniel Lir and Bayou Bennett of Dolce Films took the lead with their public service announcement for Narconon.

Narconon  is a non-profit drug rehabilitation , prevention and education organization.  Its purpose is to provide effective drug rehabilitation and education services to those struggling with addiction and their loved ones.  Dolce Films made the award winning public service announcement for Narconon called "Time for Breakfast" which portrays a younger sister calling for her older sister to come to breakfast only to find her passed out due to drug use. This heartfelt PSA brings home the point of drug addiction and how it affects the lives of many, not just the addicted.

The Garden State Film Festival was created in 2002 when 25 year film industry veteran Diane Raver and well known Hollywood actor Robert Pastorelli made a chance encounter in a grocery store in Sea Grit, New Jersey.  Launching from the start of this meeting Mr. Pastorelli and Ms. Raver were able to create the now famous all encompassing event to the Garden State.

The Garden State Film Festival is an all volunteer non-profit organization which was founded for the purpose of promoting the art of filmmaking on all levels by showcasing a wide variety of film, video and animated works as well as providing educational programs in the creative arts to the public by industry leaders.

The benefit of the festival is providing a forum where local and independent filmmakers can exhibit their work.  It also provides a networking atmosphere for aspiring actors and filmmakers to meet with professionals in the industry.  There is a side benefit for organizations such as Narconon drug rehab in that their positive message of help is presented in a truly artistic fashion to get the intended response from the viewer.

The more art can be imbued into the culture the more the culture thrives. The Garden State Film Festival provides a necessary outlet for the creative few who venture forth to deliver a message through the art of filmmaking.

New Insurance Regulations Make it Easier for Drug Addicts to Get Needed Help

The Department of Health and Human Services, Labor, and Treasury has implemented new rules that will require private group health insurance plans to offer benefits for treatment of substance abuse disorders comparable to other illnesses.  This will allow for more help to more Americans who suffer from drug addiction to get the needed help from facilities like Narconon.

Narconon manages 6 effective drug rehabilitation facilities in the eastern United States.  These facilities have some of the highest success rates in the nation at over 75% compared to the usual 14% of most other facilities.  Both insurance companies and employers will benefit greatly by their employee who suffers from drug addiction going to one of the State licensed and approved inpatient or outpatient Narconon facilities in the east U.S.

The new insurance rules are expected to be finalized in spring of 2010 and will go into effect for years beginning on or after July 1, 2010.  The rules will prevent group health insurance plans, like the ones offered by employers, from restricting access to care for substance abuse disorders by limiting benefits or requiring the patent to pay higher costs than those that apply for general medical care or surgical benefits.

The bottom line is this opens the door for millions of Americans to get the help they need.  If they choose a Narconon facility they will get the results they seek and employers would be wise to know this as most Narconon graduates continue to live drug free lives after treatment.

The reason the Narconon results are so high and its program is so effective is it addresses both the physical and mental factors connected with addiction.  Its New Life Detoxification program is the only one proven to flush drug metabolites from the addicts’ body and the result is clearer thinking and freedom from drug cravings.  It is these physical drug cravings, which if not overcome lead to repeated drug addiction relapse.

The rest of the Narconon program are precise sets of drills and courses which bring the student more into the present  time and increases their ability to confront their environment as well as pinpoint the reasons they sought drugs to begin with and address those matters as well.

Once free from the underlying reasons they used drugs, Narconon students return to their lives able to live drug free and productive without the urges to use drugs again.

The Narconon program does work with and accept most insurance. If you would like more information on the Narconon program contact Narconon today at 877-237-3307.

For Many Addicts, Promiscuity Plays Major Role In Addiction

Nicole, a Narconon drug rehab graduate knows how promiscuity and addiction can go hand in hand. “[When I was on drugs] that was my everyday life,” she explains in a recent interview. “I was a prostitute walking streets of Detroit, I was raped and beaten and had guns point to my head. I was addicted to crack cocaine and heroin and using since I was 12 years old.”

And Nicole isn’t the only addict whose addiction caused her own morals to decline rapidly. In fact promiscuity has been directly related to drug and alcohol addiction for decades.  According to the government website on College Drinking Prevention , 400,000 students between the ages of 18 and 24 had unprotected sex and while under the influence of alcohol more than 100,000 students between the ages of 18 and 24 report having been too intoxicated to know if they consented to having sex.

Relationship problems continually arise with those abusing both alcohol drugs including domestic violence, infidelity, unwanted pregnancy and the spread of disease.

Narconon, a long-term residential drug and alcohol treatment program, recognizes this as a major barrier to successful recovery and for many, and key underlying issue that adds to drug and alcohol abuse.

To help handle this, the drug rehab program uses educational life-skills methods that help addicts to adopt a common sense moral code to living. This part of the program is called "The Way To Happiness" and goes over precepts that help addicts to improve their own well-being and productivity in life. Part of this course enables clients to learn about having successful relationships, being faithful to their partner, and to safeguard their own health and well-being in these areas.

Recently a new video has been released that will be used in addition to the book that covers this precept that is now being used in the Narconon program to better help clients.

The Way To Happiness is a non-religious moral code for the 21st century. More than 70 million copies have been published and circulated in 90 languages and 130 nations. The course has been used as a part of the Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program since for decades.

And for Narconon graduates like Nicole this technology has been lifesaving. “[Narconon] gave me my life back,” she says.  “I have what I was always searching for that I could never find. I now have that. I have happiness, the knowingness. I am able to do anything I want to do well. I can win at life and I am winning.”

Today Nicole has been free from drugs for several years and is happily married with children of her own. Her advice to those trapped in the cycle of addiction is not to lose hope no matter how many times you have fallen because she is living proof that drug rehabilitation does work to restore those morals that many feel have been lost for good.

Narconon Releases Public Service Announcement

Narconon, one of the largest drug rehabilitation and prevention groups in the world has just released a new public service announcement to help those plagued by the ever-growing problem of drug and alcohol addiction. The announcement, produced by Dolce Films , tells the story of the negative consequences of addiction and offers services through Narconon drug rehab .
Erica Catton, Director of Promotion for Narconon East U.S. explained that with the holiday season coming up, Narconon is ramping up its drug rehabilitation and prevention efforts over the next few weeks. This is in an effort to help counter the ever increasing use of drugs and alcohol during this time of the year.

“The latest drug statistics tell the story of addiction in our country. An estimated 20.1 million Americans aged 12 or older used an illicit drug during a one month period,” Catton said. “This represents 8% of our population showing that now, more than ever, we have to get those addicted into drug rehabilitation programs that work.”

Some of the most common drugs of abuse include marijuana and hashish, cocaine, crack-cocaine, heroin, hallucinogens, inhalants, or prescription-type psychotherapeutics used non-medically. This is according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Services Administration Office of Applied Studies.

In addition the National Institute on Drug Abuse reports that an estimated 48 million people (ages 12 and older) have used prescription drugs for nonmedical reasons in their lifetimes. This accounts for approximately 20 percent of the U.S. population.

“Our new public service announcement will be released to media all over the country,” Catton explains. “This, along with our drug prevention efforts and expansion on the drug rehabilitation front, is just one more way to get the message out that with effective substance abuse treatment we can end addiction.”

The Narconon program has been successfully treating addiction since 1966 and currently has 120 centers in 44 different countries.  If you or someone you know is looking for a drug rehab program that gets results contact Narconon today at 877-237-3307.

How to Find a Successful Drug Rehab

Thomas Stone* didn’t immediately have a solution when he suspected his daughter was addicted to drugs. “My daughter started to change,” he said, “we knew something was wrong and when we found out that it was heroin, we were scared she was going to die.” After consideration and research on addiction, Stone knew the only thing he could do to help his daughter was to get her into a drug rehab program. The problem now was finding the right type of treatment.

Like many families, the Stone’s checked local resources for successful drug treatment programs in their areas and were shocked to find out that there were no programs near their home that achieved a stable success rate for permanent recovery with their daughter’s type of addiction. Thomas Stone was an employee in the school system and also got a rude awakening when he saw the types and success rates of drug rehab programs covered by his health insurance. “I was concerned about short-term drug treatment,” he says. “I had seen many kids go to this type of treatment through the school system and I did not see many positive results. I didn’t want my daughter’s treatment to become some type of revolving door.”

But what came with the type of program they wanted for daughter was a price tag that at the time the Stone’s were sure if they wanted to pay or not.

“In our case we had to find something that was the most logical approach to handing our daughter’s heroin addiction,” says Mr. Stone. “We found a program called Narconon and we knew this was the right approach and the cost became secondary. People invest money in homes and cars all the time, so when it comes to your child’s life, it’s really a no-brainer.”

After making the difficult decision to send their daughter to private-pay, long-term residential drug treatment program, the Stone’s have never regretted their decision. Their daughter has just celebrated 8 years drug-free and is now happy and productive and most importantly, stably off drugs. “We know Narconon helped our daughter,” says Mr. Stone. “It was the right thing to do.”
The Narconon drug rehab program has stably helped more than 25,000 addicts recover from drug and alcohol addiction just since 1995. The Narconon program achieves a more than 70% success rate for permanent recovery and has for 43 years. The program currently operates over 120 centers in 40 different countries that handle all types of drug and/or alcohol addictions.

Based on his personal experience, Mr. Stone recommends three things to families searching for drug treatment for a loved one. The first is family support, the second is believing in the program and type of drug treatment that you choose and the third is not enabling your loved one that is addicted to drugs. “Drug treatment is commitment,” says Mr. Stone. “I had to tell my daughter that she had to make that commitment when she went into treatment and that it was her responsibility to get better.”

Mr. Stone adds that finding out your child is addicted to drugs is one of the hardest things in the world to face. Today he is grateful that his family found the right type of drug rehab program – that they found Narconon.
